Introduction to my services

IMG_8222.PNG

Greetings!

I am Debby Rightmyer, a Certified Behavioral Canine Consultant (CBCC-KA) - CCPDT & Fear Free Certified Animal Trainer (FFCP) - Fear Free Pets

My interest in dog behavior and training evolved over years of experience with pet dogs, shelter dogs, some working dogs, & many other species of canines in wildlife sanctuaries and rescues. I have been training animals in various contexts for over 15 years and enjoy the challenge of learning more every day. Of particular interest to me are dogs with behavioral issues including various forms of aggression, rowdy ill-mannered dogs, and also those with underlying fear and anxiety. Understanding their genetic influence as well as their life experiences so far is valuable in helping them fit into their home while having the best quality of life.

I offer private one on one sessions for basic manners and training as well as for behavioral modification. Additionally, I offer group classes, workshops, and consultations for facilities wanting to educate their staff and clients. Common topics of interest are body language, advanced handling skills, training exercises, socialization practices, and dog playgroup interactions.

Testimonials

"Very Professional"

Debby helped me with a very sensitive problem with my dog. She was kind, professional, and very knowledgeable. Her understanding of serious behavioral issues was not only appreciated, but necessary.

"Excellent Trainer"

When I first became a shelter volunteer I was very fortunate to train under Debby. Her priority is always the dog, she truly cares for each animal she works with. Debby can easily read each dog's behavior and adjust her training and/or play time to match the dog's mood. I watched so many shelter dogs blossom in Debby;s care so they were able to move on to their forever homes. I highly recommend Debby for any issues your dog may need.

"Dedicated and Knowledgeable"

Debby has a unique combination of understanding what dogs need and how to communicate those needs to the owner.  I met her when I adopted Brittney from North Shore, where Debby had been working closely with her for 3 years after she was placed there as a puppy.  The transition from the shelter in Westhampton to my apartment in Manhattan brought many challenges for both Brittney and I.  Through it all, Debby was always available with her insightful expertise and encouragement.  I am happy to say that Brittney is now thriving, and can honestly say that we wouldn't have gotten here without Debby.
