Sirius Positive Dog Training - Wakefield, RI
I believe that when we learn to listen to and understand our dogs, we can create a life changing connection with them. Based on that belief, I provide my clients with dog services that create a deeper relationship of mutual respect and cooperative partnership.
At Sirius Positive Dog Training, every dog is viewed as an individual, and each client receives training recommendations and a training plan designed specifically for that dog, with in-home, virtual consultations, day training and board/train options available.
I've trained my own German Shepherd Dogs since 2002, and became a professional trainer in 2015. My certifications include the elite certification as a dog behavior consultant by the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants; Certified Behavior Adjustment Training Instructor; graduate with distinctions from Victoria Stilwell Dog Training Academy; Certified Fear Free Trainer; Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CCPDT); and I am a Canine Good Citizen and Canine Life and Social Skills evaluator.
I became a professional dog trainer after a successful career in health care, through formal education and hands on experience, apprenticing with experts in the dog training and behavior modification fields. I bring years of education and experience to each situation, running the spectrum from puppy training and socialization to complex behavior issues. Fundamental to my training style, is setting each dog and client up for success by designing realistic training plans and goals. Clients can choose from private in-home training/behavior modification, board and train in my home, or virtual online options using Skype, Zoom and/or FaceTime.
I offer canine good manners training, puppy manners training, and am certified in behavior modification to address issues with aggressive behaviors (dog-other animal or dog-human), resource guarding, biting, fear/anxiety, lunging behaviors, etc.
Before our consultation, you fill out a comprehensive initial intake form that tells me about you, your dog, and your training goals and behavior concerns. After I review the form, we have a consult that lasts 1-1/2 to 2 hours. When the consult finishes, we will have realistic goals and a solid training plan in place.
Here I am working with Malcolm, who before he began working with me used to lunge toward people. He is sitting quietly on a loose leash, even when a person called his name and showed him a treat, and when he checks in with me, he gets permission to say "hi", and then walk away with me.
