How did you hone your craft?

Excellent education at Bowling Green State University followed by an intensive near-decade at a community mental health agency followed by 10 years of private practice

What tip would you give pet parents for working with animals that you've learned as a pro?

In terms of grief and loss, it's helpful to remind yourself that we almost always outlive our pets. End of life decisions are never easy and sometimes there is no really good option. I like to remind people to consider adopting from a shelter rather than a breeder. Mixed breeds tend to be healthier and there are so many pets in need of a home. Also, consider that this is a commitment of the better part of 2 decades of your life if you adopt a dog or cat. Consider your stability and readiness for that commitment.

What is one thing you want pet parents to know about you? It can be whatev-fur you'd like!

I'm a lifelong animal lover and rescuer, so I can empathize with other pet parents that consider pets as members of the family.
