Mighty Pet Dog Training - Menominee, MI
Here at Mighty Pet, we use and teach positive reinforcement based training practices that follow least intrusive, minimally aversive ( LIMA ) training guidelines. We strongly believe in reward based training as it has been shown repeatedly to not only be effective, but to have minimal risk of adverse side effects when compared to punishment based training techniques. Our goal is to improve quality of life and enhance the relationship between dogs and
their owners. We achieve this by helping dog owners understand how to effectively communicate with their dogs, determine what behavior they are seeking to achieve, set realistic goal and successfully make that change in the most effective, least stressful way possible for the dog and owner. Our favorite training tools include flat buckle collars, front or combination attach harnesses, clickers (used to tell the dog “right answer!”) and something the individual dog wants to work for (usually treats or toys!).
I hold the distinction of Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed*, I am the only trainer in the greater
Marinette-Menominee area having attained this certification. In addition to having my CPDT-KA, I am also a graduate of Micheal Shikashio’s Aggression In Dogs master course and a licensed Veterinary Technician. I joined Mighty Pet in 2017 to help build the training program. I currently teach our group classes and workshops. I also offer private training and behavior consultation services. I live on a small farm with my husband, and our four dogs. Outside of work, I enjoy upland hunting, running canicross (dog powered cross country running), bikejoring (dog powered mountain biking). *"The Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers® (CCPDT®) is the leading independent testing and certification resource for dog training and behavior professionals. We set the global standard for the development of rigorous exams to demonstrate mastery of humane, science-based dog training practices. We are a private, not-for-profit organization.
