Glenn Cernosek Pet Portrait Fine Art - Pet Portrait Artist - Austin, TX
My pet and animal portraits are hyper realistic. I work from photographs, so the sharper the image of the photograph, the more realistic the finished painting will be. For an additional fee I am available to do the photography if needed.
The painting can be framed in two ways. (1) A traditional framing with mats and glass or plexiglass. (2) Another way to frame it is to have me coat the finished painting with multiple layers of a UV acrylic varnish protective coating. The painting can then be framed just as if it was an oil or acrylic painting, without a mat or glass. Varnishing cost an additional $29 for the 9" x 12", $33 for 11" x 14" and $39 for 12" x 16".
I choose to paint pets, animals and complicated subjects with bold colors and dramatic lighting because the reflected light enhances the colors of my subjects.
I choose to paint in watercolor because of the challenge of painting with the most difficult medium to master.
Because I paint with the highest quality paints and paper, I know my paintings will last for hundreds of years,
I start my paintings by doing several 3” x 5” pencil studies to determine which composition and how much of the photo to use. I paint in layers, called glazes. As the light passes through the layers and bounce back into the viewers eyes, the color you see is more interesting than if I had just mixed those colors together on my palette and then painted that mixed color on the paper.
I choose to paint in a realistic style because I enjoy painting detail, often it can put me in a meditative state as I am painting. Hours can pass by quickly. All the detail gives the viewer more to look at. The longer you look at my paintings, the more you will discover."
