Four years ago, a sweet, wide-eyed puppy named Luna entered the world of rescue in Colorado. She was found in need of a loving home, but life threw her an unexpected curveball. Early on, Luna began struggling to keep her food down. What started as simple mealtime troubles turned into a journey filled with vet visits, specialists, and a hefty dose of love and determination.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the amazing rescue that saved her, and with the support of generous donations, Luna\u2019s condition was finally diagnosed: esophageal dysmotility disorder. Similar to megaesophagus but a bit more manageable, Luna\u2019s condition requires some extra <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.petworks.com\/hire\/dog-nutritionist\">canine nutrition care<\/a><\/span> to keep her healthy. Mealtime now takes place in a specially made high chair, which helps her swallow her food properly. She also takes medications to prevent serious illnesses, like the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.petmd.com\/dog\/conditions\/respiratory\/aspiration-pneumonia-dogs\">aspirate pneumonia<\/a><\/span> she\u2019s bravely battled three times.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-8407\" src=\"https:\/\/www.petworks.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/luna-eating.png\" alt=\"Luna Eating\" width=\"177\" height=\"179\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.petworks.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/luna-eating.png 177w, https:\/\/www.petworks.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/luna-eating-100x100.png 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 177px) 100vw, 177px\" \/>Despite these challenges, Luna is a bundle of joy with a heart as big as her appetite. She adores Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach food, yogurt, and treats&#8230;and has mastered the art of begging for her favorites. Her puppy-dog eyes are impossible to resist, especially when she\u2019s asking for one more bite.<\/p>\n<p>At home, Luna shares her life with two other rescue dogs, keeping her humans constantly on their toes. Together, this furry trio brings endless love and chaos to the household. Luna, with her goofy grins and sweet nature, is the heart of the pack.
