Her name is Emily and she is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/untamed.com\/blogs\/cat-breeds\/half-siamese-cat\">part Siamese<\/a><\/span>. She has to live outside because she never learned how to use a box and she won&#8217;t go in her house when it rains. I call her a special kitty. She doesn&#8217;t get around very good. Her back legs don&#8217;t have very much strength and her fur is mating.\u00a0 When is the right time to put them down? That\u2019s no small thing. She sounds like one of those fiercely independent souls who insists on doing life her own way, even if it means sunbathing in the rain and giving the litter box the cold shoulder.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"917\" data-end=\"1314\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-7515 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.petworks.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Petworks-Pet-Care-Service-Pro-Tips-e1736622469982.png\" alt=\"in-home pet euthanasia\" width=\"120\" height=\"120\" \/>That said, it\u2019s clear you\u2019re facing one of the hardest decisions any pet parent ever has to make. When is it time? There\u2019s no exact formula. But there <em data-start=\"1069\" data-end=\"1074\">are<\/em> signs. If Emily seems like she\u2019s in pain, struggles to eat, drink, or move without distress, or if her quality of life has shrunk down to just getting through the day, that\u2019s when it might be kinder to help her pass with peace and dignity.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1316\" data-end=\"1566\">You might also consider reaching out to a mobile vet who can come to your home (or yard, in Emily\u2019s case). They can gently assess her and help you decide. Some also offer peaceful, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.petworks.com\/hire\/pet-euthanasia\/tx\">at-home euthanasia<\/a><\/span>, which can be a less stressful way to say goodbye.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1568\" data-end=\"1758\">And please don\u2019t feel guilty. Feeling sorry for her doesn\u2019t mean you\u2019ve failed her. Quite the opposite. It means you see her, you care deeply, and you\u2019re trying to do what\u2019s best. Not what\u2019s easy.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1760\" data-end=\"1938\">If Emily could talk (and being part Siamese, she\u2019s probably come close), I bet she\u2019d say, \u201cThanks for putting up with my quirks, the rain, the fur, and all.
